A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Beloved Kantam Chacha

Prof. K. R. Saxena—our beloved Kantam Chacha—was much more than my Baba’s ( my father's) elder brother. He was a highly knowledgeable academic, a distinguished author of books on Zoology, a wonderful mentor and adviser, and, above all, a warm and loving human being. We grew up with his affection, guidance and encouragement.

I still remember how happy and proud he was when I secured a distinction in Class 10. He appreciated me wholeheartedly and even gave me a cash award—a gesture I have cherished throughout my life. He would lovingly remind my brother Sailesh, my sister Sharmila and me that we were disciplined children and always greeted everyone warmly. His words of appreciation gave us a sense of confidence and pride

.What made Kantam Chacha especially memorable was his wonderful sense of humour. During Makar Sankranti, he would jokingly say that while every household made delicious til ladoos, in our house, when I picked up one ladoo, the entire plate came up with it! His innocent humour would fill the room with laughter and remains one of those precious memories that brings a smile even today.
Kantam Chacha and Chachi were always generous and supportive. A visit to their home was never complete without food and affection. Their support was especially meaningful when my engagement was being finalised. Kantam Chacha immediately offered their home for the groom’s family to stay and for both families to meet.
It was a beautiful gesture of love and responsibility that reflected the special bond he shared with my Baba.My Baba had immense respect and faith in Kantam Chacha, and we too looked upon him as a trusted mentor and guide through both our happy and difficult times.

We remain deeply grateful for his wisdom, affection, humour and guidance, and equally grateful to Kantam Chachi for her warmth and unwavering support. Their love has left an indelible mark on our family and will always remain a cherished part of our lives.
