A Beloved Uncle, Mentor and Inspiration
My maternal uncle, Professor Kanteshwar Raj Saxena, holds a very special place in my heart and in my academic journey. He was not only a respected Professor of Zoology, but also a wonderful mentor and an important influence in my life.
Growing up, I remember being inspired by his passion for zoology and his dedication to teaching. Seeing him as a professor was one of the reasons I became interested in zoology and biological sciences. Without realizing it at the time, his example helped shape the direction of my own education and career.
I remember with particular gratitude the support he gave me during my Master’s research and thesis writing. He patiently guided me, shared his knowledge and experience, and encouraged me throughout the process. His confidence in me helped strengthen my own confidence and my desire to continue learning and pursuing higher education.
His influence stayed with me as I went on to pursue my PhD in Nutrition and eventually became a faculty member at Texas Woman’s University. Looking back, I can see how meaningful it was to have a professor and scholar within my own family who inspired my love of science, research, teaching, and education. Now that I am an educator myself, I understand even more deeply the lasting influence a teacher and mentor can have on someone's life.
I will always remember my uncle with great affection, respect, and gratitude. He was an important part of my journey, and his guidance and example will always remain with me.I feel truly blessed to have had him not only as my maternal uncle, but also as one of my earliest mentors and inspirations. His memory will always hold a very special place in my heart.
