The Textbook That Shaped Generations of Medical Aspirants
This is absolutely incredible news, and my heart is full of joy for you and the family!
What a historic and proud day. As someone who practically lived and breathed Professor Kanteshwar Raj Saxena’s Text Book of Zoology during our Intermediate days, seeing his legacy digitally preserved on the Internet Archive feels deeply personal.
It instantly brought back a beautiful memory of our student days.
I still remember the absolute reverence we had for those pages. Whenever we stumbled upon a particularly brutal, complex twist in a practice question, you would calmly smile, flip open “The Bible” as we called it, and point exactly to Baba’s beautifully clear diagrams or text that effortlessly solved the mystery.
It always felt like having the ultimate guiding light right there in the room with us. It wasn't just a book; it was a mentor that shaped our dreams and built the very foundation of our medical careers.
Volume I: Invertebrates & Cellular Foundations
This volume masterfully built our core foundation, guiding us from the microscopic intricacies of Cell Biology through the entire span of the Non-Chordate phyla. It turned what usually felt like overwhelming memorization into pure, logical concepts.
Volume II: Chordates, Human Physiology & Genetics
This was our ultimate weapon for the entrance exams. Baba’s brilliant decoding of Human Anatomy, Physiology, Genetics, and Evolution gave us the precise conceptual depth and competitive edge needed to crack the toughest medical papers.
Baba’s profound knowledge is now immortal, ready to guide and inspire future generations of healers across the globe just like it guided us.
I am incredibly proud of Baba, and so proud of you both Praveen & Manoj for sharing this amazing information.
A Pillar of Guidance, Humor, and Unforgettable Memories
As we mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of my dear Bade Chacha, Professor Kanteshwar Raj Saxena, I reflect with deep gratitude on the extraordinary influence he had on my life and our entire family.
Bade Chacha was a truly remarkable human being. As a Professor of Zoology, he possessed a unique gift for connecting with all of us—his children, nieces, and nephews—always offering unwavering wisdom and gentle guidance throughout our educational journeys.
For me personally, his support was foundational. From my pre-medical studies through my medical training in India, he was a steady guide.
I still remember reading his Textbook of Zoology during my pre-med years; it was so much more than just a textbook to me—it was a reflection of his deep intellect, clarity, and passion for learning.
But beyond his academic brilliance, Bade Chacha filled every room he entered with humor, warmth, and an outgoing spirit. He had a magnetic personality that touched everyone around him.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of our family summer vacations across India. I will always cherish our trip to Bangalore, where his resourceful, lighthearted nature was on full display—figuring out how to stretch our budget so we could joyfully squeeze two back-to-back movies into a single day!
Bade Chacha’s kindness, humor, and guidance remain forever etched in my heart.
On his centennial birthday, we honor not only the brilliant mentor and professor he was, but the deeply loving, vibrant soul who enriched all of our lives.

My Beloved Nana — A Grandfather I Will Always Cherish
My grandfather was very special to me. Growing up, I loved listening to my mother share stories about him—how hardworking he was, how deeply he cared for others, and how he was always ready to help those in need.
These stories filled me with admiration for him and inspired me to become a better person.
His kindness, wisdom, and generous nature left a lasting impression on me. I feel truly fortunate to have spent precious time with him and to have had the opportunity to care for him in small but meaningful ways.
I fondly remember how he would ask us to sing for him or gently press his legs.
During those moments, he would lovingly ask about our school, our studies, and the little details of our everyday lives. These simple conversations and precious moments have become treasured memories that I will carry in my heart forever.
Though he is no longer with us, his values, love, and the lessons he taught me continue to guide me every day.
His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the goodness he inspired in others.

A Grandfather’s Love, Guidance, and the Dreams He Inspired
Some of my earliest memories of my grandfather are from when he stayed with us in Bombay. I was in first grade then, and he would patiently teach me and encourage me in my studies.
As I grew older, I loved spending time with him, whether it was pressing his legs, talking with him, singing, or dancing for him. He always took such joy in watching me perform, and his encouragement meant the world to me.
I was also fascinated by his love for learning and teaching. Even while I was still in school, I enjoyed reading the zoology textbook he had written and felt so proud of his accomplishments.
One memory that still makes me smile is when he helped me write an English essay on the Festivals of India. Once he started dictating, his ideas just kept flowing, and the essay became much longer than I had expected!
Looking back, it was such a perfect reflection of his passion for knowledge and his enthusiasm for teaching.
Whenever I asked him what I should become when I grew up, he would always smile and say:
“Doctor.”
Those words stayed with me and became one of the many ways he inspired and guided me.
I also treasure the memories of going shopping with him in Abids, where he would happily buy me a new dress and insist that I wear it right there in the store. It was his way of sharing in my happiness.
His wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love shaped me in many ways, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had him in my life.
His memory will always remain close to my heart. ❤️

Cherished Childhood Memory of Kanteshwar Chacha
Kanteshwar Chacha was a noble person: caring, gentle, and kind-hearted. When I was a child, our family was going through rough times. My father was sick, and my mother cared for him and for us. These were difficult times for me and my siblings.
My father's sister, my aunt Munni Bua, took care of me for around three months. I got to live in her home with three of her children—my elder first cousins.
One day, their uncle, Kanteshwar Chacha, invited them and others from their extended family to a Russian exhibition in town. He came over to me and said:
It was such a kind gesture. After our trip to the exhibition, he treated us to a good meal at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Abids, Hyderabad.
This happy childhood moment with Kanteshwar Chacha is etched in my memory.

A Grandfather Who Taught the Beautiful Lessons of Life
Life has small nuances that shape who we become, and my grandfather played a big part in that. He believed in family, a table full of good food with enough for everyone to share, kindness to everyone, and enjoying life's little pleasures with loved ones.
These things make a house a home and stay with you long after the moments pass.
So here's to my grandfather, who was not only a great teacher by profession but also a teacher of life, showing me that the greatest lessons are often found in the simplest things: kindness, togetherness, and warmth.
My Association with Baba – A Journey of Love and Memories
My long-standing association with Baba dates back to the time I got engaged to Praveen on 26th October 1985. One of the first pieces of good news he shared with me was my B.Ed. result. That was when I began to understand his deep academic interest and his constant encouragement to pursue higher education.
While I was working as a schoolteacher at Gokul School, Baba encouraged me to complete my M.A. in English Literature. His faith in education and his encouragement played a significant role in shaping my academic journey.
As a person, Baba was deeply affectionate and caring. I experienced the true depth of his love just a week before my wedding, when I lost my mother. The emotional support, warmth, and kindness he extended to me during that difficult time helped me cope with the immense loss. His compassionate treatment is something I can never forget.
After his retirement, while he was busy with his translation work, he would often call me and ask me to prepare tasty snacks for his colleagues. He had immense faith in me and trusted me so much that he would even send me to take care of his banking work. These little gestures reflected the confidence, affection, and trust he had in me.
The period from 1985 to 2005 was one of the most vibrant and memorable phases of my life. The experiences, relationships, and precious moments I shared with Baba during those years will remain etched in my heart forever.
I feel truly happy and privileged to pen down these cherished memories of my association with Baba on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. It is an opportunity to relive those beautiful moments and express my gratitude for the love, encouragement, and affection he showered upon me.
